Ajimobi appointed as APC’s acting National Chairman after court sacked Oshiomole

Former Governor of Oyo State and one-time Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has been selected as the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, The Ravens has learnt.

This appointment is coming after the Appellate court in Abuja upheld the suspension of Mr Adams Oshiomole as the National Chairman of the ruling party as ruled by an FCT High Court.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the National Working Committee of the ruling APC was said to have been guided by the party’s constitution in the decision.

Ajimobi was, until this recent appointment, Deputy National Chairman (South) of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Onilu wrote: “The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has received the news indicating the Appeal Court has upheld the suspension of the Party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by an FCT High Court pending the determination of the substantive suit.

“Guided by advice from the Party’s legal department in line with the provisions of Section 14.2. (iii) of the Party’s constitution, the Deputy National Chairman (South), Sen. Abiola Ajimobi will serve as the Party’s Acting National Chairman.

“According to Section 14.2. (iii), of the APC constitution, the Deputy National Chairman, North/South “Shall act as the National Chairman in the absence of the National Chairman from his zone.
