We have not spent kobo from COVID-19 donations – Kwara Govt

The Kwara State government has declared that it has not spent a dime from the various funds received as support for COVID-19 from well-meaning individuals.

Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor made this disclosure in a press statement made available to The Ravens today.

He noted that the Kwara State government has received a total amount of N243m as COVID-19 support funds from March to this moment.

“The state government, meanwhile, has announced the receipt of N243m as financial donations from private individuals and corporate bodies between March 27th and now.

“The donations were in respect of the government’s fight against COVID-19 pandemic, and had at various times been acknowledged in official news releases,” he said.

The governor’s spokesman, who said no kobo has been spent from the donations, observed that the Kwara State House of Assembly was yet to appropriate the funds for spending.

His words: “It is important to add that the government has not spent a kobo from these donations as the funds have not been appropriated by the House of Assembly. However, materials including food stuffs donated have been distributed accordingly.
