A report is making the rounds to the effect that Don Jazzy, CEO of Mavin Records and Tiwa Savage, Nigerian singer were invited and quizzed by the Department of State Security (DSS).
On May 31, the ’49-99′ crooner had launched #WeAreTired hashtag to draw the attention of the federal government to the rising cases of sexual assaults in the country.
The two artistes have also made several political statements in recent times, tasking the government to do more.
The Sahara Reporters, alongside many other digital news media, reported that the music stars were invited and quizzed by both the DSS and the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Zubairu Muazu (sic) over their alleged politically-charged comments on social media.
The Ravens Fact Check makes findings to check the veracity of the report.
CLAIM: Both Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage were quizzed by the Department of State Security (DSS) over political statements made against President Muhammadu Buhari.
FINDINGS: The Ravens Fact Check launches an investigation into this claim and finds it to be false.
On his official Twitter page, Don Jazzy posted a short video clip captioned, “Alaye shalaye meaning quizzes jor?” where he tacitly dismissed the claim. In the said video, he asked, “What’s the meaning of quizzes?”.

The Ravens Fact Check also finds out that Zubairu Muazu is no more Lagos Police Commissioner, having left since November 2019 after his promotion.
The current Lagos State Police Commissioner is Hakeem Odumosu.
Commenting on the report, Bala Elkana, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, dismissed claims that the command invited the musicians.
He told TheCable Lifestyle that the report is “illogical”, noting that Muazu left as Lagos police commissioner in November 2019, after his elevation to the post of an assistant inspector-general of police.
“As far as I am concerned, that report is not true,” he told TheCable Lifestyle.
VERDICT: Claims that Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage were quizzed by the DSS and Police are untrue, not cast in concrete, totally misleading and inciting.
