COVID19: Salman Shagaya Foundation sets to distribute foodstuffs as second wave imminent

Chairman Salman Shagaya Foundation (SSF), Alhaji Sheriff Shagaya has procured food items to be distributed to the less privileged Kwarans as the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic is imminent in the state, a statement said on Monday.

This was made known in a short press release signed by the Foundation press secretary, Ibraheem Abdullateef.

He stated that as the second wave of COVID-19 is looming and with Christmas and New year fast approaching, the philanthropist found it necessary to support indigents in the society to relief them of hardship.

The second wave of COVID-19 is upon us as a people. And the Christmas& New Year bell is jingling.

We will need to support each other better than ever to spread love and happiness during and after the season.

Moreover, it is about time we started with providing palliative to the widow, the aged, and other needy people in our communities to cushion the effect of COVID-19 as we learned from the first wave.

On the directive of our chairman, Alhaji Sheriff Shagaya, hundreds of bag of rice and other food items are to be distributed across the 16 LGAs of Kwara State.

Our delivery team will begin the distribution from Offa and Oyun tomorrow.

Residents and citizens of the state are advised to keep to the preventive measures at all times. COVID-19 is back stronger, and safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Ultimately, government, philanthropists, traditional and religious institutions, and civil groups are urged for strengthened efforts as regards combating the pandemic to avoid loss of lives and spiral hunger in our communities.
