The authorities of Kwara State University, Malete have warned that final year students who refuse to pay hostel accommodation fee will automatically spill.

The school said the payment of hostel accommodation fee is part of the requirements for the complete payment of school fees for both freshers and final year students.

“The Management of Kwara State University has observed that most final year students of the institution deliberately refuse to apply and pay for their hostel accommodation fee, which is supposed to be a part of the fulfilment of the complete payment of their school fees,” Abdulrazaq Sanni, Director, University Relations wrote in a statement.

“It is very important to stress however that it is a school policy that is in line with international best practice that freshers and final year students of the university must pay and be provided hostel accommodation except where exemptions are granted such students, after thorough investigation and consideration of reasons advanced. Please note that while the granting of exemption is not arbitrary, it is done at the discretion of the school Management.

“In view of the foregoing, students are implored to take cognisance of the countdown that is ticking on their portal, as failure to pay hostel accommodation fee as well as other sundry statutory fees at the expiration of the countdown may amount to automatic spill over. Please comply,” he noted.
