Torchbearers Impact Network (TIN) has announced a four-man panel for the evaluation of entries for its essay contest, TheWriteUp2021 as the deadline placed on submission closed April 19, 2021.
In a statement by Luqman Basheer, Contact Officer, TheWriteUp2021, the organizers appreciated participants and members of the public for their support on the project.
“We also thank committed members of the public who have been supporting this initiative in their various capacities. It really means a lot. And words cannot do justice to how much we are grateful,” the statement read in part.
Announcing members of the four-man panel, Basheer wrote, “Having come to the expiration of the deadline for submission, we must inform participants of the next line of action. Four eminent professionals and award-winning writers have been selected to grade the entries for the first round.
“Shortlisted participants will proceed to the second round of writing. Thereafter, a final lap that involves interview will be conducted to get the best of the participants who will emerge winners. The prizes still remain: N200,000 for the winner; N100,000 for the first runner up; and N50,000 for the second runner up.
“To ensure a fair and objective grading process for the first round, we have shopped for best hands, comprising outstanding academics and award-winning journalists to serve on the panel. They are:
1. Mrs. Funmi Falobi, Abuja-based social and development journalist and former editor at Daily Independent. She heads the panel.
2. Mr. Yusuf Suleiman, Lecturer at Kwara State University, Malete.
3. Mr. Saadudeen AbdulRasheed, Lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
4. Mr. Adejumo Kabir, multiple award-winning investigative journalist at Premium Times.
According to the Contact Officer, names of shortlisted participants for the first phase will be duly announced to the public in two weeks time.
