UK-based Sadaqah Jarriya gifts Asa community borehole

A United Kingdom based organization, Sadaqah Jarriya partnered with its Nigerian counterpart, Ongoing Charity Group to donate a motorised borehole to Aboko Community in Asa Local Government of Kwara State.

According to a statement by Abdulrasheed Saadudeen, HICA Secretary, the donation comes as part of the strive of the organizations to provide safe water for people living in rural communities.

The Ravens NG learnt that the water project was facilitated and supervised by the Haashim Initiative for Community Advancement (HICA) and is aimed at tackling perennial scarcity of safe water in the area, which had led to the outbreaks of water borne diseases such as cholera in the past.

Speaking at the brief commissioning of the project, a former Head, Department of Mass Communication, University of Ilorin, Dr. Saudat Salah AbdulBaqi, urged residents of Aboko community to put the borehole into good use.

Dr. AbdulBaqi also called on the people of the community to reciprocate the good gestures of the project’s sponsors by taking charge of the borehole and ensuring that it is functional at all time.

She equally tasked the youths and children of the community on the need to develop high sense of patriotism and the will to give back to their community as demonstrated by the Sadaqah Jarriyah and its partner.

In his vote of thanks, the Magaji of Aboko, Alhaji Abdulkareem who was represented by Mallam Ibrahim, expressed his appreciation to the sponsors and solicited for empowerment for the widows and orphans in the community.

The colourful event which was attended by the HICA Team, volunteers and well-wishers from the neighbouring communities was capped with a performance by Nimota Alapala.
