The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Mai-Martaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has hailed popular politician and philanthropist, Mallam Saliu Mustapha over the latter’s donation of the sum of ten million Naira for the 2021 Dubar ceremony.
Mustapha, it was learnt, had on Friday donated the huge sum in cash through the Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee headed by Engr. Yahaya Alapansapa, the Danmasani of Ilorin.
The glamorous event, slated for July 21, is an annual display and cultural processions of well decorated and garrisoned horses mounted by the royals, chiefs, princes and some other eminent citizens of the emirate.
Reacting to the donation, the Emir described Mustapha as a cheerful giver whose contributions to human capital development in the Ilorin emirate and beyond are outstanding.
Sulu-Gambari, who spoke through his publicist, Abdulazeez Arowona, said he was impressed beyond words over the unrelenting generosity of Mustapha to the Ilorin Emirates.
“We are proud of you, and we urge other illustrious Ilorin Emirates sons and daughters to take a cue from you’, the Emir was quoted as saying.
Sulu-Gambari also expressed his unflinching supports to the Durbar Committee towards a hitch-free and excellent performance in the forthcoming event.
Meanwhile, Sulu-Gambari stressed that the ceremony shall be sustained through periodic review of cultural activities and events that have direct impacts and relevance to the people of Ilorin.
Mustapha has been a well-known contributor to past editions of the annual event and community development projects.
In 2019, he donated a brand new space bus to the Durbar Committee to aid its transportation logistics. In the same vein, he donated two white horses as personal gifts to the Emir of Ilorin in 2020 preparatory to the year’s Durbar celebrations.
The donations, according to Mustapha, were aimed at promoting the rich ethnoreligious heritage of the Ilorin Emirates.
