The Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has announced Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir as the new Madawaki of Ilorin Emirate.
The Emir made this announcement on Thursday, 22 July 2021, during a mini Durbar at his palace in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Yakubu Gobir, a pharmacist and well-known philanthropist, is also the Waziri of Hausaland and a gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last general election.
Gobir’s contributions to Human and Capital Development through his foundation, Gobir Organization Foundation, are visible across the state.
Waziri Gobir is becoming the second Madawaki of Ilorin since the demise of the first Madwaki of Ilorin, Alhaji Yahaya Madawaki from Oriokoh, who was conferred with the title in 1955 and died in 1998.
