The Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, Akwa Ibom State has named a newly constructed sports pavilion after the minister of state for transportation, Senator Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki.
Senator Saraki was on Thursday on a facility tour to the academy where she commissioned the sports pavilion and some other projects.
The minister and her entourage were received by the Rector of the Academy, Commodore Emmanuel Duja Effedua (rtd) and the newly appointed Chairman of the Board, Rear Admiral Jacob Ajani (rtd).
On her entourage was the Chairman, House Committee on Marine Transport Hon. Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu and her deputy, representative of the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear. Admiral S.D Ladan, Chief of Naval Engineering and his team, the Director Maritime Safety and Security at the Federal Ministry of Transportation and other industry players.
At the event, the Federal Ministry of Transportation, through MAN, Oron, sought to collaborate with the Nigerian Navy in the area of capacity building to strengthen the workforce and manpower in the maritime sector.
