The Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Harmony Holdings Limited, Mallam Abdullahi Abdulmajeed has described Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq as a pride of the Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State as a whole, in commemoration of his turbaning ceremony as the Mutawalli of Ilorin Emirate Friday, March 18.
The GMD/CEO congratulated Dr. Alimi whom he said is a perfect choice for the revered title, acknowledging the great impacts the AbdulRazaq family has made to the Emirate and Kwara State in general, especially in terms of championing the renaissance struggles. He also noted the individual roles played by the honoree.
Dr Alimi, an accomplished lawyer and educationist of renown, is the first Ilorin indigene to earn a doctorate in law. He sits on the board of FBN Holdings and several other reputable establishments. He is one of the few title holders in the annals of Ilorin Emirate who have the singular honor to directly succeed their fathers, as he is stepping into the shoes of the late AGF AbdulRazaq, SAN, who was Mutawalli of Ilorin and Tafida of Zazzau.
“I congratulate most heartily our father, Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq on his well-deserving turbaning as Mutawalli of Ilorin Emirate. This is a great honor for the AbdulRazaq family. I rejoice with His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Executive Governor of Kwara State and other members of the family on this occasion,” Abdulmajeed said.
“No doubt, Dr. Alimi is chip off the old block and a pride of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State as a whole, given his laudable record of excellence. This is however not surprising as he is just building on the legacy of the AbdulRazaq family which is notable for contributing to social and human capital development through investments and interventions.
“The AbdulRazaq family has offered the state a fair share of exemplary and outstanding personalities who have made marks in business, politics, public service and private sector. The late patriarch was a development enthusiast who singlehandedly established the Ilorin College (now Government High School, Ilorin), the first private school in the state capital that had produced quality graduates.”
The GMD/CEO similarly commended His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin on the colourful event.
“I pray that the Almighty Allah will continue to bless the Ilorin Emirate and make the reign of the Emir purposeful. I am proud to identify with Dr. Alimi, he is a visionary personality and pride of Ilorin Emirate. May the Almighty Allah see him through in this new huge role,” he prayed.
