A Kwara-based socio-political group, Concerned Ilorin West Stakeholders, has written to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to support the advocacy for Kwara Central Senatorial seat to be zoned to Ilorin East and South constituency of the district.

In a May 6 letter signed by its convener, Abdul-Hammed Alli, the group informed the Governor of its activities and the need for him to speak out.

“Your Excellency may wish to be formally informed that the above named CONCERNED ILORIN WEST STAKEHOLDERS ON KWARA CENTRAL SENATORIAL DISTRICT, a socio-political group charged with the responsibility of ensuring equity and fair distribution of political positions in the Ilorin Emirate, addressed a PRESS CONFERENCE on the need to shift the Kwara Central Senatorial ticket from the Ilorin West Local Government, which has been occupying it from the Second Republic till now, to Ilorin South/Ilorin East Local Government whose federal constituency is equally entitled to the same position being enjoyed by Ilorin West Local Government but has been denied over the years.

“We have embarked on this journey for the justice and fairness of it. We believe this goes to the very root of our existence and brotherhood as Ilorin.”

The group expressed hope that Governor AbdulRazaq would use his office to “ensure the realisation of this laudable agenda in the forthcoming circle of elections in the state.”

Recall that a similar appeal was made by the Ilorin East and South Constituency Youth Stakeholders in April.

The group wrote a pleading letter to the State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq seeking the zoning of Kwara Central Senatorial Seat to Ilorin East & South constituency in 2023.

The letter was co-signed by the Association’s Coordinator, Mallam Salman Habeeb Olesin, and the Secretary, Mallam Usman Muhammed Kawu Kano.

This also adds to growing agitations championed by opinion leaders in the district.
