Argentina captain Lionel Messi has rued his miss from 12 yards against Poland during the final round of matches in Group C.
Messi had faced Juventus’s showstopper, Wojciech Szczesny, in the 39th minute but had it saved.
Messi faced the newsmen after the game and said, “I’m still angry for having missed the penalty, but the team came out stronger after that. We knew that once the first goal went in, it would change the game, and they would open up.
“The previous win against Mexico gave us a lot of peace of mind, and we went out onto the field today thinking we had to win.
“The match against Australia is going to be very difficult. Anyone beats anyone, everything is very even. We have to prepare the game in the best way as we always do,” he concluded.
