Kwara Progressive Media Organization (KPMO) has alerted patriotic Kwarans about the insidious campaign in some parts of the state being deployed by members of the media wing of the Kwara State PDP campaign council against the leadership and Government of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

This much was contained in a press statement signed and released by the Converner of KPMO, USMAN Lade.

He made it known that the state chapter of the PDP and its yet-to-be-inaugurated assemblage of fake news peddlers have literarily fouled the media space by deliberately entrenching falsehood, fabrications, uncouth language and abuses as “acceptable’ modes of engagement, particularly on social media.

The Kwara Progressive Media Organization (KPMO) hereby alerts patriotic Kwarans about the insidious campaign in some parts of the state being deployed by members of the media wing of the Kwara State PDP campaign council against the leadership and Government of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The State chapter of the PDP and its yet-to-be-inaugurated assemblage of fake news peddlers have literarily fouled the media space by deliberately entrenching falsehood, fabrications, uncouth language and abuses as “acceptable’ modes of engagement, particularly on social media.

After exhausting their arsenal of calumnies and character assassination against Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the opposition PDP has begun a desperate multi-pronged campaign of falsehoods and peddling of fake news.

In one of the falsehoods being circulated, especially in some sections of the media, is that the administration of Mallam AbdulRazaq has incurred N51billion debt for the state between 2019 and 2022. A baseless and unfounded allegation coined from the desperation of spreading fake news in circulation.

According to the information available, the public debt of Kwara rose by 139% (N15.9bn to N38.1bn) between 2014 and 2016 under the same PDP hegemony without any specific infrastructural projects to which the borrowings of 2015 were linked.

At any rate, the domestic debt profile of Kwara State was N63bn in 2019, while its foreign debt profile lingers around $47m, according to official data from the DMO in the first quarter of 2022.

Similarly, one comrade known for always sitting on the fence while claiming to be a social commentator and now one of the spokesperson for the PDP campaign council in its recent rejoinder to an article by Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye where he claimed Kwara had no Education Commissioner for a year. What a blatant lie from the pit of hell.

Even if he has been hurriedly beclouded with the PDP’s style of politics of bitterness within less than 72hours of his appointment as a member of the ‘Osuwa’ campaign council, at least his conscience should have reminded him that Hajia Saadat Modibbo-Kawu who resigned as the Education Commissioner to contest an election has been re-appointed and inaugurated to take charge of the same Ministry after about six months after she resigned.

Even at that, the Governor’s vision to improve the standard of teaching and welfare of teachers across the state has been evidently adjudged as one the best approaches to a sustainable educational system in the history of the state. All thanks to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

This misinformation campaign, according to our field reports, is being given some traction by some opposition figures in the state disguising themselves as socioeconomic and political analysts on different radio programmes.

To the ‘O su wa’ people and purveyors of falsehood: we want to reiterate that despite the global economic challenges necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are proud to say, in many years, this is the first time the three senatorial districts in the State will be experiencing such kind of inclusive development.

Whilst the Governor has completed many pro-people-driven projects in the state; we are glad to tell you that some soon-to-be-completed and some already completed projects of the administration include the Innovation Hub, Visual Arts Centre, Osi-Obbo Road, Garment Factory, Jebba water works, Lafiagi water works, Kwara radio Okuta, Ilesha-Gwanara Road, new Dental and Eye facilities at Ilorin General Hospital, Oron General Hospital, Lafiagi General Hospital, Kishi-Kaiama Road, International Conference Centre, the Tunde Idiagbon Bridge at Tanke amongst several others.

For us at the Kwara Progressive Media Organization, we will no longer tolerate the excesses of the “Osuwa disciples” misleading the media and the public by stating outright lies,n half-truths and fabrications in their statements and claims about governance, individuals and the actors in the ruling party.

However, we urge the PDP to concentrate on its final mission to the ‘land of see me no more’ which will most likely be the final destination of the dynasty come 2023 through the total resolve, commitment and assurance of eligible voters in the state who have seen the difference between the darkness and the light and ready to give the All Progressive Congress the victory to consolidate all that has been achieved under the leadership of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the 2023 election polls.
