Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender, William Gallas, has urged Chelsea to scupper the plans to sign Argentine sensation, Enzo Fernandez.

Fernandez, 21, currently plies his trade with Portuguese giant, Benfica Lisbon, who has placed a whooping €120 million on the midfielder. The player was part of the Argentina squad that won the world cup in Qatar, and he bagged the Young Player of the tournament award.

Various clubs across Europe are seriously keen to sign the young prodigy who made the move to Benfica from River Plate in a €14 million deal less than six months ago.

While speaking with a UK-based online Casino, Genting Casino, Gallas spoke about the huge transfer figure involved in the deal and that the player has yet to prove himself.

“The question is if Enzo is the right price. What he did in the World Cup for his age was brilliant, that’s why he was voted the best young player in the tournament. I didn’t know he was so young.

“I don’t know if he is worth that value. For me, I don’t have a problem with the price of the players. I just have a problem with the price of the players who haven’t proved themselves. Every player can have one great season. The most difficult thing is to have the second great season in a row, then the third and the fourth.

“I know it’s the market but the club has to be careful. You can’t put a price of £120m on one player like this and you don’t know if he is going to have a good season in the Premier League because it is a different league if you have to compare it with Spain. Chelsea have to be careful. I think they have made a mistake like this already and it’s a huge risk,” he said.

The 21-year-old is currently valued at €55 million (according to transfermarkt) which is way lesser than the Benfica club is demanding.
