The Head of Operations at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mohammed Umar, has gotten the approval to serve as the acting chairman of the agency as Mr Ibrahim Magu goes on suspension.

Umar, who is a Deputy Commissioner of Police, is the second most senior operative at the Commission.

It was gathered that there were intrigues to install the Secretary, Ola Olukoyede, as the chairman pending the suspension of Ibrahim Magu.

However, Olukoyede was not chosen because he is a civilian.

Speculations are also rife that the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Bala Ciroma, is being considered to resume as the substantive chairman of the government agency.
