Kwara Fire Service recovers remains of man trapped inside well

The Offa Fire Station, a subsidiary of the Kwara State Fire Service, has recovered the remains of a man trapped inside a domestic well in Owode, Offa in the wee hours of today, The Ravens can report.

The ugly incident occurred at Ajao Street of Owode Market in Offa, a town in the southern part of Kwara State.

The Ravens learnt that on noticing that a man was trapped inside a domestic well, residents called upon men of the Fire Service for a rescue operation which ended in futility as the victim later kicked the bucket.

The remains has since been handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps in Offa.

Confirming the development, Head of Department, Media and Publicity, Kwara State Fire Service, Mr Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, wrote in a statement that the cause of the scenario was yet to be unraveled.

According to him, “The Offa Fire Station under Kwara State Fire Service carried out a “Rescue Operation” this morning.

“The incident occurred around 11:25hrs at Ajao Street Owode Market, Offa. After the people in the neighborhoods had discovered that there was a person trapped inside their domestic well.

“They quickly summoned Offa Fire Station and thankfully we arrived promptly at the scene exactly five minutes after the “turn out call” (i.e 11:30hrs)

“However, immediately we got to the scene, we fully engaged. And within some couple of minutes, we were able to recover the casualty dead and handed over to one officer Danfulani from Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) of E” Command Offa.

“Based on information gathered at the scene, the victim’s name was Abubakar Sokoto. Although up till this moment, the cause of the incident has not been ascertained.

“In this regards, may Almighty God continues to be protecting us. Ameen.”
