• ‘I don’t know her until yesterday’

• ‘No request was made as peddled’

The Executive Chairman of Federal Character Commission, Dr Muheeba F. Dankaka (OON) has distanced herself from Kwara Commissioner for Special Duties, Hajiah Aisha Ahman Pategi, noting that she wasn’t known to her until yesterday.

The FCC head also noted that Pategi’s visit to her office was in fact informal and unscheduled, adding that she rode on the back of a top public official in Kaduna to gain access to her office which could not have been gotten ordinarily.

Pategi had earlier claimed in a Facebook post that during the visit, she sought “development for Kwara State in line with the vision and mission (sic) of H.E Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq to pioneer innovation and bring sustainable development to the state.”

But in a statement signed by Olayemi Olaboye, Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman, Federal Character Commission, today, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent, the claim of seeking any official request was rebuffed and dismissed.

According to the statement, “The attention of the Executive Chairman, Federal Character Commission, Dr Muheeba F. Dankaka (OON) has been drawn to a story that has gone viral on the social media, with an accompanying picture showing the Executive Chairman and Hajia Aisha Ahman Pategi.

“The Executive Chairman wishes to state that Hajia Aisha Ahman Pategi was not known to her prior to yesterday’s (Tuesday, July 14, 2020) visit. As a matter of fact, the visit was not on the schedule of the Executive Chairman for the day. Hajia Ahman Pategi actually rode on the back of the back of the FCC Commissioner for Kaduna, Hadjia Hadiza Muazu to gain access to the Executive Chairman’s office.”

It continues: “The meeting was brief, the discussion was informal and no request was made. The request for photographs was made by Hadjia Ahman Pategi and four sessions were had and the following persons who were on hand for different purposes joined; Hon James Kolo (Kwara State Commissioner at FCC), Hon. Aliyu Pategi (former House of Representative member), Hadji Hadiza Muazu (Kaduna State Commissioner at FCC) and Mr Kayode Bawa Allah (Lagos State Commissioner at FCC).

“A further request for a personal picture with the Executive Chairman was made by Hadjia Ahman Pategi which was innocently granted.”
