UNILAG: Governing Council removes VC over gross misconduct, financial recklessness, others

The Governing Council of the University of Lagos, Akoka has removed Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe as the Vice Chancellor today in an emergency meeting.

A statement by Oladejo Azeez, Esq., Registrar and Secretary to Council dated August 12 confirms this development, noting that the sack was based on investigation of serious acts of wrongdoing and sundry charges levelled against Ogundipe.

It reads: “The general public is hereby notified that at an emergency meeting held on Wednesday, 12th of August, 2020 and in accordance with the statutory powers vested in it by law, the Governing Council of the University of Lagos removed Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS from office as Vice Chancellor of the University with immediate effect.

“The decision was based on Council’s investigation of serious acts of wrongdoing, gross misconduct, financial recklessness and abuse of office against Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS.”
