Borno Governor Babagana Zulum has approved the appointment of Professor Isa Hussaini Marte as his new Chief of Staff.
Spokesman of the Governor, Malam Isa Gusau, announced the appointment on Wednesday evening.
The appointment will fill the vacuum left by the Governor’s late Chief of Staff, Dr. Babagana Wakil, who passed on July 1, 2020.
Gusau said the new Chief of Staff, a serving commissioner in Zulum’s cabinet, is expected to handover to Dr Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe, whose new ministry will be Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.
“Zulum’s choice of Marte is in recognition of his proven capacity, strong passion for development and unbending principles that align with the governor’s, and above all, his proven integrity,” Gusau said.
Marte is a Professor of Pharmacology with specialty in cancer research.
The fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science will be sworn-in on Monday, August 17, 2020 by Zulum.
