Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has declared that there are no COVID-19 palliatives in any of its 37 orientation camps nationwide, noting the spate of attacks on its formations in search of imaginary palliatives is worrisome.

This declaration follows the violation of the NYSC facility in Kubwa, Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Earlier, mobs have breached public facilities in various states of the country in search of COVID-19 palliatives which they intend to loot.

“It is imperative to note that the National Youth Service Corps is a national institution saddled with the core mandate of promoting national unity and integration, as well as youth development and empowerment. The mandate does not include warehousing and distribution of palliatives,” according to an official statement posted on the social media handles of the Scheme.

The statement further said that the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim is making an earnest appeal for the cessation of further attacks on facilities of the Institution.
