It was a moment of nostalgia as the Kwara State Chapter of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria Alumni Association Friday paid a courtesy visit to the Group Managing Director of the Harmony Holdings Limited, Mr Abdullahi Abdulmajeed.
The visiting team, led by Mr Abdullateef Adebowale Adedeji, Chairman, Kwara State Chapter of the ABU Alumni Association, was warmly received by the GMD.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr Adebowale said the association had come to pay a courtesy visit to the GMD whom he described as “one of our own”, while also intimating him on the planned publication of a magazine tagged, “Compendium”.
According to the Chairman, “The presentation of the magazine by the association is scheduled for the first week of November. We will love to have your beautiful face in the publication. The publication will go viral across the country and even beyond.”
Mr Adebowale lauded the GMD for his exploits and achievements so far in the murky terrains of the country, noting that the association is very proud of him as he represents the “naturally ahead” mantra of the alma mater.
For his part, the GMD said he considered the visit as a double honor from a selfless and visionary team, while assuring them of doing his best in giving back to his alma mater.
The Director, who is also an alumnus of ABU, recalled his days and political struggles as a Students’ Union activist at the institution, saying that the first generation ivory tower is a producer of eminent personalities and great leaders in the world.
“ABU is a mini-Nigeria. It has produced a large number of eminent personalities and great leaders in the world. We must thank and appreciate the founding fathers for their impactful legacies and giant strides in taking the institution to an enviable height, making it the cynosure of all eyes. I assure you of doing my best in giving back to our great alma mater,” Abdulmajeed said.
At the end of the meeting, the GMD was decorated with a muffler emblazoned with “GREAT ABUSITE” by the Chairman, Kwara State Chapter of the ABU Alumni Association.
