Not less than 50 people have lost their lives to the hand of an unknown illness in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The Ravens NG gathered that the disease comes with symptoms like headache, red eyes, loss of appetite, difficulty in urinating and defecating, convulsion, and at the end death. As at the time of filing the report, the nature of the disease has not been confirmed.
Lawmaker representing Olamaboro Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Ujah Alewo, in a motion of urgent public importance on the floor of the House yesterday, said residents of Etteh community in Olamaboro LGA had been thrown into confusion by the outbreak of the epidemic, which was alien to them.
“The reports reaching my constituency office from the community leaders confirmed that over 50 people within ages 25 and 40 years died from September to date,” he said.
He made it known that infected patients die within one week of contracting the disease.
“All efforts to find solutions through the local herbs, as well as treatments at local health centres, clinics, and hospitals were not successful,” he commented.
