Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has affirmed the appointment of Mr Yemi Akinwonmi as its acting national chairman.

This is coming barely two days after Mr Uche Secondus was ordered not to parade himself as the chairman of the party by a court.

The Ravens NG reports that the leading opposition party in Nigeria is mired in serious internal wrangling, and the recent sacking of Mr Secondus is one of its fallouts.

Yemi Akinwonmi who now acts as the national chairman was deputy national chairman (south).

Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP’s Publicity Secretary, confirmed the development to reporters after the National Working Committee (NWC) closed door meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

Ologbondiyan also disclosed the rescheduling of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting for Saturday.

“Elder Yemi Akinwonmi was unanimously affirmed as Acting National Chairman,” he said.

“We will be holding our caucus and another NWC meeting tomorrow preparatory to holding our National Executive Council meeting at 12 ‘O’clock on Saturday.”
