Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has said faulted the statement of the presidential candidate of his former party Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that he’s a stepping stone to the Igbo presidency.

Fani-Kayode said that an Atiku who has been wanting to be president of Nigeria for the past three decades but kept failing, can’t be the stepping stone to the Igbo presidency.

Atiku Abubakar had vowed to pass the presidency baton to Igbos if they vote him to be president come 2023. A pledge he made during the PDP presidential campaign rally in Anambra.

In his reaction, Fani-Kayode said no one can stop the Igbo presidency when it is time. He further labelled Atiku as “arrogant”.

In a Facebook post by the former Minister of Aviation, he wrote: “Do the Igbo need you to become President? You have been trying to be President for over 30 years and you have not been able to make it and now you are saying you will be the stepping stone for someone else.

“Please gather your senses together and hear the following: when the time for an Igbo Presidency comes, no-one can stop it and they will not need a fading, weak, corrupt, deceitful, dishonorable, treacherous, anti-Southern religious bigot and ethnic hegemonist to be a stepping stone for them.
