Obi picks Obasanjo’s aide, Osuntokun as Okupe’s replacement

Labour Party, LP, has announced the appointment of Akin Osuntokun, ex-political adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo, as the new Director General of its Presidential Campaign Committee.

Chairman of Labour Party, Julius Abure, confirmed the appointment to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday.

He further confirmed that the decision to appoint Osuntokun was reached after detailed consultations with party stakeholders in the country.

Doyin Okupe stepped down from the position after a federal high court judgment had convicted him of money laundering.

He will now be replaced by Akin Osuntokun after he resigned from the post last week.

Okupe was sentenced to two years imprisonment but with an option to pay 500, 000 fine on each count, which tototaled13 million.

He paid the fine after the sentencing.
