Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, has debunked recent rumors of him endorsing Peter Obi, presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP.

He claimed the reports to be unfounded and should be ignored, because no endorsement was made by him at anytime.

It was widely reported that El-Zakzaky had instructed members of his IMN to collect their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, and massively vote Peter Obi as the next president of Nigeria during the polls.

Speaking on behalf of El-Zakzaky, one of his lawyers, Marshall Abubakar of the Falana & Falana Chambers, crushed the rumours.

He also revealed that “some presidential candidates” approached him for an endorsement but he refused.

Reacting to the reports to newsmen, “That is fake news. I can confirm to you that there is nothing of such, though some presidential candidates have reached out to him, he has refrained from endorsing any of them because he believes the 2023 presidential contest is bereft of ideological leaning,” he said.
