The Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mallam Muktar Tolani Shagaya, has placed out a message of appreciation and sincere commendation to members of the Nigerian Armed Forces on the occasion of this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is celebrated January 15 to remember veterans and honour the sacrifices of members of the Armed Forces.

Shagaya, in a statement by his Media Office in Ilorin, said: “Nigeria owes members of the armed forces – dead or alive– a huge debt of appreciation for holding the nation together as one and protecting its territorial integrity even at the risks of their lives.

“It is commendable that despite the many threats and challenges faced by the country at different junctures of her history, the Armed Forces have remained a great shield that has consistently fought against any threat to national security and peaceful coexistence.

“As we celebrate this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day, I place a sincere commendation of the services of our Armed Forces men, past and present. I congratulate members of the Nigerian Legion and the entire Armed Forces on this memorable day. We remain indebted to you for your sacrifice.”
