It was only a matter of time before he writes his name in the history books.

Harry Kane has become the joint record goalscorer for his club, Tottenham Hotspur. The 29-year-old equaled Jimmy Greaves’ goalscoring record for Spurs, which stood at 266 goals. The record stood for 53 years before it was equated by the Spurs fans’ new hero, whose name was chanted throughout the Craven Cottage on Monday when the Lilywhites defeated Fulham by a solitary goal which was scored by Kane himself.

The Englishman received a pass from Heung-min Son before he turned away from Tim Ream and hit a beautiful strike into the back of the net to give Tottenham a deserved win.

The goal also meant Kane has plundered 199 goals in the English Premier League with only Wayne Rooney (208) and Alan Shearer (260) netting more goals than him in the division.

After the match against Fulham, Spurs’ manager, Antonio Conte told Amazon Prime of his desire to help Kane win win a trophy with Tottenham Hotspur.

“We are talking about a player who has fantastic abilities, incredible skills. For sure I’d like to do something important. To win something with Tottenham. Tottenham is in his heart. It would be good if together we are able to win something. It’s important to have this record. But it would be more important if you lift a trophy. I think that we have to be dreamers. I spoke to the players and said today has to be a starting point for us,” he said.

Harry Kane will be aiming to win a trophy for his dear club that has endured years of trophy drought. The last time Tottenham Hotspur won a trophy was way back in 2008 when they lifted the League Cup (also known as the Carabao Cup).
