Chairman, Salman Shagaya Foundation, Alhaji Sheriff Shagaya has called on Muslim faithful to seize the auspicious moment of Sallah to intensify prayers for the country and share love with others in the spirit of selflessness and patriotism as the nation battles the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shagaya, while felicitating Kwarans and every Muslim household on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha (1441 AH), particularly the Emir of Ilorin Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the various religious and community leaders in the state, commended their sacrifice including the brave health workers while calling for a modest celebration in line with the directives given by the authorities.

“I share in the mirth of the moment and wish everyone an amazing Eid. But I urge us to see the moment as an unusual time which takes discipline, sacrifice, and patriotism to keep ourselves and others safe by keeping faith with coronavirus advisories that would take us out of the wood in time,” said a statement by the Press Secretary for the foundation Ibraheem Abdullateef.

“Let’s call on God to ease the world of hardship, war, and pestilence. I appeal to Muslim communities to seize the moment to pray with family for His mercies upon humanity.

“As a foundation, we have identified that one of the greatest efforts needed to cushion the hardship is empathy for the children, women, and old people. We continue to do all that is necessary to spread love and care for everyone. I believe that to survive this pandemic quicker and stronger, we must keep looking out for one another. I call on people to share things with the less privileged and spread the message of love during and after the Sallah. Accept my warm wishes and God’s protection on all of us.”
