Former minister for aviation, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode has arrived at Akwa Ibom State for his south tour, just as the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) ordered its members to boycott a press conference planned for him.

Fani-Kayode announced his arrival in Uyo, the state capital, on Thursday, August 27.

However, in a statement on Friday, the NUJ asked journalists not to attend any activity organised by the former minister.

This follows an ugly scene where Fani-Kayode verbally assaulted a journalist at a press conference in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

His reaction drew widespread reproach from many Nigerians on social media, including the NUJ which described it a gangster-like outburst.

The ex-minister began his tour of Nigerian states, especially those controlled by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in July.
