I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to draw your attention to the deplorable state of the roads in the Ilorin metropolis and the subsequent negative impact it has on the quality of life for residents.

Firstly, I must commend your efforts in improving various sectors within the state since assuming office. However, it pains me to observe that the roads in Ilorin, the state capital, have been neglected for far too long. The increasing number of potholes, cracks, and uneven surfaces are not only an eyesore but also pose a significant danger to motorists and pedestrians alike.

The poor state of our roads not only affects the aesthetics of our city but also hampers economic growth and development. Businesses are discouraged from setting up shop in areas with inadequate infrastructure, leading to missed opportunities for employment and revenue generation. Additionally, the deteriorating roads increase transportation costs, making it difficult for ordinary citizens to go about their daily activities and hindering access to essential services such as healthcare and education.

Furthermore, the condition of the roads has a negative impact on the environment. The constant presence of potholes leads to increased fuel consumption, air pollution, and noise pollution as vehicles have to maneuver around them. This not only contributes to climate change but also affects the well-being of the residents.

As a resident of the Ilorin metropolis, I have witnessed the frustration and inconvenience experienced by the people due to the poor condition of our roads. Commuting to work or running errands has become a daunting task, as drivers have to navigate through a maze of potholes and endure long traffic jams caused by road repairs that seem to be never-ending.

Moreover, the state of the roads reflects poorly on the image of our beloved city. Visitors and tourists who come to Ilorin are greeted with dilapidated roads, giving a negative impression of our state and deterring potential investment opportunities.

Therefore, I kindly urge Your Excellency, as the Governor of Kwara State, to prioritize the rehabilitation and maintenance of the roads in the Ilorin metropolis. The road network is the backbone of any thriving city, and without proper infrastructure, progress and development will be impeded.

I understand that road maintenance is a complex and expensive endeavour, but I believe that investing in the improvement of our roads is an investment in the well-being and future of the citizens of Kwara State. I implore you to allocate adequate resources to address this pressing issue. Engaging reputable construction companies with a proven track record in road rehabilitation would ensure that the work is done to a high standard, guaranteeing its durability and longevity.

Furthermore, I encourage you to establish a system for regular inspections and maintenance of our roads to prevent them from falling into disrepair in the future. A proactive approach to road maintenance will not only save costs but also ensure the safety of road users and promote economic growth.

Additionally, I appeal to Your Excellency to prioritize the implementation of proper drainage systems alongside the road rehabilitation efforts. The frequent flooding experienced in many areas of Ilorin during the rainy season is a result of inadequate drainage. This poses health risks, damages properties, and further deteriorates the condition of our roads. By addressing the drainage issues, we can mitigate the effects of flooding and improve the overall state of our roads.

In conclusion, I implore Your Excellency to take immediate action to address the poor state of our roads in the Ilorin metropolis. The residents of Kwara State deserve safe, reliable, and well-maintained roads that will enhance their quality of life, facilitate economic growth, and reflect positively on our state. I have the utmost faith in your leadership and commitment to the development of our beloved state and trust that you will prioritize this issue.

Thank you for your attention, and I remain hopeful for positive changes in the near future.

Yours sincerely,

Nu’akofu Uthman Oladimeji

A citizen of, Ilorin, Kwara State.
