The Kwara State High Court, Ilorin has declared the appointment of the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) in Kwara State as an executive rascality and abuse of power.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had appointed TIC chairmen and members across local government areas of the state amid heavy criticisms from various quarters.

The government argued that Kwara has a peculiar case and appointment of TIC chairmen was a product of necessity.

In his judgement on Friday on a suit filed by the Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD) against the Kwara State Government on the appointment of TIC, Hon. Justice H.A. Gegele agreed that the government suspended democratically-elected Local Government Councils and then replaced them with an illegal TIC that is not known to any law.

The court also admitted all exhibits and evidences submitted by ENetSuD, while ruling that the anti-corruption civil society group has locus standi to pursue this case in court of competent jurisdiction.
