OPINION: Announcement by an ex-data boy

By Abdulrahman Abdullahi Kayode

Early this morning, a Facebook memory conveying an 11-year-old post popped up on my blue app, and I was like, OMG! The data boyism actually started 3 years earlier than 2011. Smile!

I could remember this particular post was also sent as a bulk SMS to hundreds of thousands of Kwarans after a “thank you Kwara” SMS to appreciate them for massively voting PDP in the year’s general elections.

The political social media advocacy to support my political camp began in my early 20s, 2008 to be precise, with the “Waziri Youth Development Association (WYDA)” FB group to propagate the humanitarian services of the late Waziri of Ilorin, Dr. Olusola Saraki and monumental achievements of my leader, the then Governor of Kwara State, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON.

This, apart from hosting the very first blog in Kwara, www.legacyfrontiers.ng.com, in 2010, the buildup of the 2011 elections, the blog that metamorphosed into www.kwaralefro.com in 2013. These were just political innovations by yours sincerely to enhance the political camp to which I have always belonged.

Yes, some of us have overstayed on this space; reason we just stopped being Databoys that can be contracted but on probono services based on our personal discretion and conviction. I will definitely continue to promote and engage people on issues that have to do with my leader, the man that has the viable solutions that can fix this country and take our party back to power.

I believe as young men; we should not wait till tomorrow to partake in the leadership responsibility of our nation. Today isn’t too late, as tomorrow may never come.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I just want to use this medium to intimate you that your boy, Abdulrahman Abdullahi Kayode, popularly referred to as GreatKay, is no longer a data boy but a Certified Project Manager, Entrepreneur, Engineer, IT Professional, General Contractor, General Consultant and Strategist.
