Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag told newsmen that the embattled Manchester United striker refused to be subbed on against Tottenham on Wednesday.

“Yes, Cristiano Ronaldo refused to come on against Tottenham.”

Ten Hag went further to commit to his authority as the head of the Manchester United football team at the moment as he asked the five time Balon d’or winner to be ready to suffer the consequences of his actions.

“There has to be consequences. It is important for the attitude and mentality of the group”.

“Details are between Cristiano Ronaldo & me. The statement is also clear. Cristiano remains an important player in the squad”.

“I’m responsible for the culture, I’ve to set the standards and values. Football is team sport. You have to set certain standard”

It was confirmed yesterday that Ronaldo will not be a part of the United side that will take on Chelsea in Matchday 12 of the premier league on Saturday evening.

Eric Ten Hag side side will be put to a proper test against Graham Potter’s side in West London tomorrow after a steady display since the 9-goal thriller in Etihad earlier this month, and the side have now won five in five since the thumping at City.
