Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has revealed that 93,469,008 voters are in the register of the commission for the 2023 general polls.
He stated this during a meeting with 18 political parties held in Abuja on Wednesday, he confirmed that female voters are 44,414,846 while 49,054,162 are male registered voters.
Yakubu further stated that the number of young people between ages 18 and 34 is at 37,060,399, which represents 39.65% of the total registered voters. While the elderly between the ages of 50 and 69 is at 17,700,270, which represents 18.94% of total registered voters.
He assured Nigerians of the readiness of the Commission to have credible elections, stating that preparation is in top gear, which includes the distribution of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) across the country.
He, however, revealed that the presentation of voters register marked the success of the Commission in 11 out of the 14 activities spelt out for the 2023 general polls.
The chairman denied the insinuation that INEC is considering postponing the polls.
